Frequently asked questions
How much does a storage container cost?
An 8ft container is £21.00 a week including VAT (£17.50 ex. VAT). A 20ft container is £40.80 a week including VAT (£34.00 ex. VAT). There is also an 8ft offer: your first 4 weeks for £1, with a minimum term of 12 weeks. See live prices and availability.
When can I get to my container?
Any time. Access is free and unlimited, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, using the StorID app on your phone.
Is there a minimum term?
The minimum stay is just 7 days and there is no advance notice required when you leave. The £1 offer has a minimum term of 12 weeks.
How secure is the site?
The site is covered by motion sensitive 24 hour CCTV. Every container is individually alarmed and fitted with a high security anti-pick, anti-saw CISA lock.
Can I cancel a booking?
Yes. You can cancel for free any time up to 24 hours before your move in date. There are no cancellation fees and no contract lock-ins.
What sizes of container do you have?
Two sizes. The 8ft container (8ft x 8ft x 8.6ft) is the size of a good sized box room and is on the first floor. The 20ft container (20ft x 8ft x 8.6ft) fits the contents of a 3 bedroom house and is on the ground floor.
Can I drive up to my container?
Yes for 20ft containers, which are on the ground floor. 8ft containers are up a flight of stairs along a secure, well lit, covered corridor.
Will my things stay dry?
Our 20ft containers have Grafo-therm ceilings that absorb moisture, and our 8ft containers are Graf-Therm insulated.
Do I need to give notice when I leave?
No advance notice is required. You can give notice at any time and no further charges are made after notice is given.
Can I change to a different size?
Yes, you can change size at any time if another unit is available.
Do I need insurance?
Yes. Your goods must be insured for their full replacement value while they are in storage. We do not insure them for you.
What can't I store?
Flammable or combustible items such as gas, paint, petrol and oil; firearms, explosives and ammunition; chemicals and other hazardous materials; living creatures; perishable food unless securely packed so it doesn't attract vermin; anything that gives off fumes or smells; and anything illegal.
Can I use my container as an office or address?
No. Containers are for storage only and can't be used as an office, living space, or a home, business or mailing address.
Can I store a car?
Cars fit in our ground floor 20ft containers. Our terms don't allow flammable substances such as petrol and oil, so please call us on 01283 241 095 before you book. More about car storage.
Do prices include VAT?
Yes. We show prices including VAT, and excluding VAT for business customers.
